Heaven on Earth :)

I was watching a song from the movie ‘Varanam ayiram’. I heard a voice telling me “Here is your topic for the next article!”. The movie? I have read millions of reviews and almost every still from the movie has been well scrutinized. Even if I try writing a review it would have the points that have already been published by someone – plagiarism!!! And its a bit TOO late to write on that movie.

Surya? Well, hmm…un… mmm….

Harris jeyaraj? I don’t know much about him except for the much hyped damaal dumeel with the director. Then what is it that I have to write about? The song was well pictured in a park. I know that place! Anna nagar tower park! And that’s the topic that I have to start with. Anna nagar! Heaven on earth :)

So what’s special about this place? You may ask. Anna nagar is a heaven for everyone. Be it a septuagenarian or a toddler, an industrialist or a homemaker, a politician or a journalist, everyone loves to stay here. The reason is simple : name your needs, and you have it here.

Maybe this place isn’t really in the heart of the city. Maybe it isn’t considered a part of the city at all (some of my friends when invited to my house say –“endha OORUla irukku un veedu?”) So what? Anna nagar is a city in itself. The old kutcheri loving grandpa goes to the concerts at the iyyappan koil. The orthodox grandma loves the numerous temples here. The workaholic father has his office at a well accessible place. The shopaholic mother has literally every top brand’s branch here – clothes, watches, cosmetics, groceries, cookware, crockery,….. The teen aged girl frequents the cozy coffee pubs and the parlours. The young boy just can’t miss his Sunday brunch at the restaurants (Chinese? Indian? Multi-cuisine? Chettinad? Kerala? Or just the roadside dhabbas? Name it…)

This is the reason I’m still here. Although the TWO hour roller-coaster ride to my college tires me like hell, I don mind the looooong travel. Where else do you find commercial establishments and residential complexes at a single place? The avenue trees on the WIDE roads (which is not very common in the CITY), the quiet and calm residential areas, diverse people, schools, branches of every coaching centre, restaurants, hah….. these reasons clearly quash the disadvantages of being here.

A Long Holiday Indeed !!!

Hey!!! LTNB :) So here I’m…
LTTE. My brother gave a funny expansion the other day-Limitation in Tamil Nadu’s Terrorism and Extremism. Who knows? Maybe that is the new political party that is gonna crop up. We have so many action heroes in the industry who would probably be the ko.pa.se.(maybe we can have a poll on this ;) )
War. It has become Sri Lanka’s daily life. Been going on for decades.
But now, the Sri Lankan Government says that the war is almost over and the enemy camps have been captured. Innocent lives are lost for this. Tamil Nadu has taken this issue as a serious one. Yeah, I agree, it is indeed a serious issue. More serious than the yellow-towel fellow getting admitted in the hospital for back pain. Thank god the doctor’s prescription wasn’t scanned and shown on the television so that his followers can follow the same….
But aren’t the politicians taking this as a chance to prove their POWER?
Colleges are closed because they think the students will create riots. But my question is, isn’t it the political parties who initiate all these unwanted havoc? The leaders, instead of utilizing this as an opportunity to turn the media’s attention on them, have to really voice the plight of the innocent people. Their talks should be of real concern and not one that includes the LONG list of things their party has done for this cause. Sometimes these hypocritical people worsen the situation.
And today the hot news is, ‘Colleges will re-open on Monday’….. Looking forward to another Monday with the UT-s and endless soporific lectures… 
